On Sunday 24th January, three of us met for a surprisingly mild afternoon walk in Pickerings Pasture Nature Reserve: made all the better by sight of snowdrops and wonderful birdsong, not at all put off by the scampering dogs.
We walked upstream enjoying a view of the Mersey we don't often see, Liverpool itself hidden around the bend in the river. Lots of branches and waterbirds swept downriver in the fast running current. We celebrated a Full Moon ritual - even though her rising was hidden by silky grey clouds, and reflected on the wonder of nature's ability to reclaim our industrial past. The walk made even better by the Friends of Pickerings Pasture having a 'pop-up' cafe going on so we enjoyed tea and amazingly rich fruitcake!
